Recommend a good book Organic Chemistry?
I take a course in organic chemistry and we use mostly manual McMurry's. It is generally a good book, but it is weak in some aspects (reaction mechanisms, examples, etc..) Can anyone recommend some good organic chemistry books for a future chemist? (help books are ok too)
I'd like to have the reputation of having other recommend this book. However, until that happens, I have to pump myself. The book is a "Guide to Organic Chemistry Mechanisms" (Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble or http://www.curvedarrowpress.com). You can see the results in class on the website. It's like everyone is given a full letter grade increase, but I have not done that through the generosity. Compared to other classes, these students knew more. The development of the book came to know why the students responded to questions given mechanism when the answers two weeks before the exam. Simply, the mechanisms are too complex to just memorize. However, they are bound by logic. Students getting to follow the logic significantly improves scores. This book manages to do that.
