list of organic foods

What food doesn’t need to be “organic”?
I read an article Yahoo posted once about how certain foods have a tendency to absorb pesticides more than other foods?
Does anyone have a list of the foods that tend to NOT absorb pesticides and other chemicals and therefore don’t necessarily need to be purchased organic (costing more)?
I am going to answer you question in a little different way.
Whatever hits the leaf of a plant is taken into the plant. Whatever is absorbed by the roots becomes part of the plant…systemic. (made part of the plants system) If pesticides and other chemicals are used, they are going to be absorbed into the plant. It’s much like our skin. Whatever you put on your skin (your body’s largest organ) is absorbed, going to your blood system and then to all your organs. This is why people die from overdoses when on some patch therapy. Recently a 17 year old girl died from applying too much Ben-Gay. So, the notion that something used in the growing of the item won’t effect the item is untrue.
There is an ‘anti’ organic movement going on, little tid-bits of mis-information placed here and there. I’ve seen them around quite a bit. Some even sound very authoritative , but are really bogus. Follow the money.
Organics need not be any more expensive. There are ways to eat cheaply. It’s even easier if you have sources. The best one online is the Weston Price Foundation. They are nationwide and provide lists of local farm markets, farm co-ops, food co-ops, etc where you can shop reasonably for your organic products. It’s also all free. We can in the summer as well so we have fresh organic produce throughout the winter and don’t have to rely on ‘other’ means. It does take some effort and planning, but you can eat well on a budget.
